The Artist Practice of James Casebere.
I came across his exhibition Emotional Architecture during my time in New York (11.03.17)and find the way that he photographs his table-sized constructed models to achieve a two-dimensional outcome that conveys the architectural space and sense of perspective to be intriguing. I have been working towards being able to use my own 'structures' as a source for some hard-edge paintings as a way of connecting my interest in minimal geometric architecture, perspective, space, colour, and abstraction, through the form of two and three-dimensional outcomes. To achieve his use of light and shadow, I aim to use contrasting colours to give the illusion of depth and dimension.
Below are the Photographs from my visit to the Sean Kelly gallery in NYC (11.03.17). These pieces by James Casebere's are inspired by Luis Barragan, the famous Mexican architect and include the use of bright colours and exploration of light and shadow.
