The way Herrera uses line as a method of dissecting the canvas into multiple sections of space and form to communicate a minimal and simplistic composition is something I have been exploring within my own paintings. My usual approach is to create a complex composition of lines, contrasting colours and geometric shapes to convey my abstract ideas but I have been keen to try restrict my colour palette (2-3 colours) and develop my ability to be content with a more minimal outcome. (shown below in my two pieces, Horizon (left) and Indent (right).

I also like curation of her exhibition Line of Sight (shown below), which shows hard-edged paintings alongside geometric, abstract sculptures as it is a method I plan to use for my final exhibition.
