This final summer exhibition was the opportunity for everyone on Stage 2 to show one piece or a group of pieces' from their studio practice. However, the pieces included were to be selected by fellow students and this meant that the curation and placement of the work was also decided by them. This therefore meant that some pieces included within the exhibition may not have been the artists' first personal choice of what would of been on show.
On first glance the exhibition looked like a collective of diverse ideas' and working methods, however, after spending more time and focusing on each piece in relation to the others', I started to notice similarities. Whether it was the use of the colour black within a large number of the pieces, or the use of coloured directional marks within some others. Also as we have previously only used the Shaun Project Space to exhibit work in, by using the Priestman Gallery it provided us with an insight into how the work could transition into a social and public visited space.
This I feel allowed me to develop my critical understanding of how my own pieces would work within a white cube gallery context and how I want them to be received by an audience.
