On reflection of my studio practice from September 2016 up until the present time, I feel I have progressed considerably. This I feel is purely as a result of me working out of my sketchbook and making the decisions to experiment with India Inks, Tapes, and Acrylic Paints. By choosing to use these materials' and learning to develop new working techniques, I have managed to progress my abstract ideas' from small drawn designs, to larger scale artworks.

Personally I feel my squeegee painted pieces are the most ambitious examples of my work, purely based on the fact that this method was the one that I felt the most unsure with whilst creating them. This feeling of being unsure was as a result of the unpredictability when applying the paint with a squeegee. The lack of control was something I hadn't allowed myself to explore in prior projects and this is primarily why I chose this method.

Moving onto what I feel visually looks and conveys my idea of abstraction the most, is all the pieces I have created with tape and also the most recent pieces done with frog tape and paint. These repetitive working techniques alongside the use of everyday materials, is something which I feel is progressing a style of abstraction which I find interesting and feel is open to interpretation by its audience. This ability to create your own understanding of a piece due to the absence of imagery is something which I try to accomplish with each of my pieces.

Therefore after evaluating and revisiting my work from the past 9 month, I have decided that I will try to focus my attention on the use of tape going forward. By doing this my aim is to develop a greater understanding on what can be achieved by using this 'tool' and to see if it can progress my physical studio practice into new areas, for example installations or sculpture. This primarily means that scale is something which I will continue to play with.
