Statement Of Intent. EXPLORATION OF ABSTRACTION.

1. Outcome of current concerns.
Reflecting on the work you have previously made- outline the concerns/ideas that you wish to develop in this module. You might plan to continue and further develop a personal project begun in Stage 1 or develop additional and/or new ideas/ concerns.
Continue with my interest in abstraction - focusing on the idea of geometric compositions and how the use of line, colour and space can develop interesting outcomes.
I plan to introduce the use of Ink and Acrylic Paint into my studio practise as a way of producing pieces of abstraction that are visually more expressive. This as a result will allow me to get out of the comfort zone I've developed around drawing and will open up new pathway to explore.
I'll revisit the process of using Insulation Tape and Vinyl Tape as a way of creating work from everyday materials.
2. Studio Practice /working methods.
What working processes or strategies do you intend to use to develop your personal project? What new processes/strategies/studio practices do you intend to try/ 'test out' during this module.
Test out using Inks and Acrylic Paint.
Working to a Larger Scale and experiment with new surfaces.
Introduce new working tools - various sized brushes, squeegees, textured materials.
Use a range of working methods to allow for a diverse collection of abstract pieces - Ink, Acrylic Paint, Tape, Digital Work.
Continue to produce work that's straight from the mind and based on an idea, rather than working from a collection of images.
3. What do you need to do, to help achieve your personal project?
For example: What areas of research are needed to support your project; how will you expand your knowledge of the context(s) are you working in; which artists, writers, critics, gallery/museum/exhibitions/site visits do you need to be knowledgeable about; which staff should you make tutorials with in addition to the module teaching team; what skills do you need to acquire or develop, such as printmaking or Photoshop.
Try out using Ink and Acrylic Paints.
Expand my knowledge of Artists and determine which ones relate to my ideas.
Document and Evaluate my studio work using my blog.
Visit more galleries and exhibitions to benefit from seeing primary sources of inspiration in the real world ( as oppose to on the internet).
